Medical Office Assistant Diploma

 

This program provides students with the base knowledge, skills, and work experience to become permanently employable in various medical settings. Skill development is delivered in three areas:

  • Comprehensive medical administrative knowledge, which includes medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, hospital and medical office administrative, and clinical procedures.
  • Full range of computer and office skills, including current software applications, keyboarding skills of 55 wpm, general office management, and accounting, personal and professional development, customer service.
  • On-site work experience through participation in a 1- month clinical externship at an approved healthcare training facility.
  • Specialty Unit Clerk/Ward Clerk training prepares the student with additional training in coordinating hospital and outpatient wards.

Graduates of this program are qualified to work in a wide variety of healthcare settings and occupations. Job titles vary per location, but graduates are an integral part of many healthcare settings, including:

  • Hospital Admitting/ER departments such as Switchboard, Cashier, Information, Patient Registration, Morgue
  • Ambulatory/Outpatient departments
  • Diagnostic Lab/X-Ray departments

  • Long Term and Extended Care departments

Resident Care Attendant Certificate

 

The Resident Care Attendant Program (RCA) is designed to provide the knowledge and skills required by a worker to attain employment in the field of long term care. Thoughtful problem-solving and "care of the self" are taught as essential components of becoming a successful caregiver.

 

The program uses a combination of lectures, demonstrations, assignments, videos, reviews, examinations, clinical experience, fitness exercises and self awareness and development workshops to prepare the student.

 

The training in the Resident Care Attendant Program provides the opportunity for students to develop basic nursing, and social service training skills necessary for employment in one of the following settings:

  • Community Health Care Agencies
  • Long-Term Health Care Facilities
  • Retirement Homes
  • Private Hospitals
  • Adult Daycares
  • Private Duty

  • Group Homes

Medical Administrative Assistant Certificate


The goal of this program is to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of office procedures, communications, word processing, terminology and medical billing. Graduates of this program will find that they are an integral part of the medical community and assist the healthcare team by building trust, and creating a safe environment for patients and their families while performing a variety of duties.

Medical Administrative Assistants work in doctors’ offices, hospitals, medical clinics, pharmaceutical companies, government health agencies and a variety of other medical office settings. They are integral members of the health care delivery team and perform many administrative and some basic clinical procedures. Typical Job Titles include:
